OC-3/12/48 ADM
Features · Monolithic 2.5 Gb/s SONET/SDH multiplex and transport system solution for use in optical and metropolitan area network applications. · Implements SONET/SDH multiplexing, demultiplexing and cross-connect functions between the STS-48/STM-16 line signal and various combinations of STS-3/STM-1 and STS-12/STM-4 tributary signals; also provides tributary side STS-48/STM-16 connection. · Provides serial data and clock interfaces for STS-3/STM-1 and STS-12/STM-4 signals, parallel data and clock interfaces for line and tributary STS-48/STM-16 signals. · Performs framing, scrambling, descrambling, B1, B2, B3 error checking, and K1 & K2 processing functions for all line and tributary signals. · Provides overhead access and termination for Section/ Regenerator Section and Line/Multiplex Section. · Supports Section/Regenerator Section, Line/Multiplex Section, and Path/HO Path performance monitoring. · Performs Pointer Processing for line and tributary signals with valid combinations of STS-1/AU-3, STS-3c/AU-4, STS-6c/AU-4-2c, STS-9c/AU-4-3c, STS-12c/AU-4-4c, …, STS-48c/AU-4-16c payloads. · Provides STS-1/AU-3 level cross-connect and protection bus interfaces to support linear/ring network traffic add-drop, grooming, APS and ring protection schemes. · Standard microprocessor interface with internal micro-controller. · 672 pin High Performance BGA Package with 1.8V/3.3V power supplies. · LVPECL, LVDS and LVTTL Signal Interfaces. Typical Applications Typical applications for AETHER-2.5GS include, but not limited to, · Next Generation SONET/SDH Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP), · 2.5 Gb/s and 10 Gb/s Mux/Demux for WDM & DWDM Systems, · Optical Cross Connect Systems, · SONET/SDH (UPSR/SNCP, BLSR/MS-SPRing) Ring Add/Drop Multiplexers (ADMs), · SONET/SDH Terminal Multiplexers (TMs), · SONET/SDH Digital Cross Connect Systems, · ATM and IP Switch and Router Interfaces, · Test Equipment, etc. Figures 1 and 2 illustrate some examples of using AETHER-2.5GS for traffic grooming and UPSR.

AETHER-2.5GS has been employed on INTEC’s RDS-2.5GS development system board and has been used to successfully verify a number of INTEC’s IP cores such as Generic Framing Procedure processors (GFPF-GbE and GFPT) and Virtual Concatenation processor (VCAT/LCAS622A). General Description The AETHER-2.5GS is a single-chip implementation of an STS-48/STM-16 LTE/MSTE, with additional capabilities to support grooming, configuration and performance monitoring functions. This “single device solution” complies with SONET/SDH standards and specifications, including ANSI T1.105, Bellcore GR-253-CORE, ITU-T G.707 and G.783. Figure 3 shows a simplified architecture of AETHER-2.5GS.
